The marina known as John’s Boat Harbor was founded in 1974 by John & Glenna Tolliver.  John & Glenna built the business from scratch on vacant property they owned.  This property is where they used to camp and boat.  They decided to start their own harbor which they started small and with a lot of hard work built the harbor to what it is today. They started with five 5 docks. They both worked full time and worked on the harbor evenings and weekends.  In the mid 1980’s the harbor was expanded to the present size.  Expansion started in earnest during the 1980’s.  John retired from his job and was able to spend full time working on the harbor.
 
Gas was sold within three 3 years of being in business.  Sales were small, as were most boats.  At that time there were outboards and they only used six 6 to twelve 12 gallons at a time.

January 1st, 2008, John's Boat Harbor Changed it's name to River Bend Marina
